Depending on its size and weight, a musical instrument can be carry-on or checked luggage. It can also occupy a seat in the cabin.
1- Musical instruments as carry-on luggage must not exceed 55 x 45 x 25 cm.
Each passenger is entitled to one piece of carry-on luggage and one accessory. A musical instrument usually replaces the piece of carry-on luggage.
The combined weight of your musical instrument and accessory must not exceed 12 kg (26 lbs).
During the flight, your musical instrument must be stored in the overhead bin.
2- Your musical instrument can also occupy a seat in the cabin if it weighs no more than 75 kg (165 lbs) and its dimensions do not exceed 140 x 46 x 30 cm.
If these conditions are met, the cost of transporting your instrument in the cabin will be equal to the price of an adult’s ticket excluding airport taxes.
Please contact us directly if you wish to reserve a seat for your instrument as this type of reservation cannot be made online and is subject to the real-time availability of seats.
3- Finally, your musical instrument can also be stored in the hold.
In such a case, your instrument will be subject to the same prices and conditions as a regular piece of checked luggage.
The rate depends on the type of ticket booked, as well as the weight and size of your instrument. If you reserved a SMART or PREMIUM ticket, then you’re allowed 1 or 2 checked bags at no extra charge. Your instrument can be one of these bags.
On the other hand, BASIC and BASIC+ tickets include no checked luggage, which means you’ll have to add a checked bag before your trip. Click here to add a checked bag.
